A portion of proceeds will go to non-profits doing nature conservation work and to organizations that help our non-human kin get the protection and resources they need. 

One of the charities is the non-profit organization DoveLewis, an animal hospital in Portland, Oregon. They are taking care of Artemis cat right now and were supportive and by our side when we said goodbye to Basil. 

Your book purchase will help DoveLewis: 

• Care for animals from low-income families 
• Treat lost animals and injured wildlife 
• Supply life-saving blood products locally & nationwide 
• Comfort grieving humans (one way they do this is by partnering with Write Around Portland by bringing the healing power of writing to those who have said goodbye to their animal companions in free 90-minute online workshops offered quarterly.) 
• Help seniors care for their non-human kin
