Change
Slow steady and brilliant
Eyes pool with shimmering
Laughs, birds calling
You are beside me
The air is after-rain temperate
The sun rises into its blue sky
Two nights hence the moon waned
The sun rose into a grey storm
You held my hand then, and we slept
Steam rises into the thick
My eyes blink protection
Against boiling espresso
Everything is a different color
It is the filter on the lens
I am always after
This one can’t be imitated
After one whole day of rain
On our dusty grounds
No chill can replace this
Great green and dark
In after-rain temperate
As I am early to see this
Wait for my lover, stirring dreams
He wakes to remember the rain
