Beautifully presented in frames from Italy and beyond, this stunning watercolor collection has 16 pieces ranging in size and takes viewers from the oceans to the cosmos and the earth in between. First through water, then to the cosmos, up into the sky, through the trees and into the fire. Between the covers, thirty-one watercolor paintings and poems connect you to the power of nature. Coffee table book available for preorder!
Sampling of watercolors from the 2024 Poetry Postcard Festival.
I started with a black poster board and painted it. I cut up the posterboard into postcards and as I labeled and addressed the first cards, I saw volcanoes, sunlight, inky depths, fleets of ships, and celestial bodies in the swirls of paint. These I added color to and brought them out of the murkiness. The additional art inspired short lines of impromptu poetry that define the festival.
Float On was the first ever to present the collection on their walls. Check out the video to see what Julie and I curated for Float On (all are available except the Moon, Sing, and Gold Dust!)
The transformation of individual pieces of art after the breakdown surprised me.
*do not duplicate, these are only small parts of original paintings.
